Referral Partners — The Pursuit Counseling
Referral Partners

The people you send us matter to us too.

Whether you're a physician, coach, school counselor, or another provider — here's how to partner with us well, and everything you need to make referring easy.

What we look for

What a good partnership actually looks like.

It goes both directions

The best partnerships aren't one-way pipelines. We want to know your work well enough to send people to you too, when it's the right fit.

Fast, honest communication

When you refer someone, you'll hear back. When we're not the right fit for someone you've sent, we'll tell you — and try to point them somewhere better.

Real familiarity, not just a business card

We'd rather have fewer partners who actually understand what we do than a stack of contacts who've never heard of us beyond a handshake.

Making the referral

How to refer well.

01
Name it without diagnosing it

You don't need clinical language. "I think it might help to talk to someone" goes a lot further than trying to name exactly what's going on.

02
Normalize it before you hand it off

A short, warm framing matters more than the referral itself. People remember how it felt to be told, not just what they were told.

"I'm not a therapist, but I know some really good ones. Would it be okay if I gave you a name?"

03
Give them something concrete

A physical card, a QR code, or a direct link is easier to act on than "you should look into therapy." Concrete next steps get followed through on.

04
Let go of the outcome

You did your part by naming it and pointing the way. Whether or when they follow through isn't a reflection of how well you referred them.

Find your words

What's your relationship to them?

The right words depend on who's saying them. Pick what fits, and we'll suggest language that actually sounds like you.

Pick the option above that fits your relationship to them.

Become a partner

Let's build a real partnership.

Tell us a bit about your practice or organization, and we'll follow up personally to talk through what a partnership could look like.

We'll follow up personally, usually within a couple of business days.

Good questions

For our partners.

Is there a cost to becoming a referral partner?

No. Partnership is free, and so are the printed materials — we just ask that referrals reflect a real understanding of what we do.

Will I know what happens after I refer someone?

Out of respect for client privacy, we can't share clinical details — but we're always happy to confirm that someone reached out and was connected with care.

Can you refer clients back to us too?

Absolutely — that's what makes a partnership work well. Tell us about your practice and we'll keep you in mind when it's a genuine fit.

What if The Pursuit isn't the right fit for someone I refer?

We'll tell you honestly, and we'll do our best to point them toward a better fit rather than just declining.
