Let’s be real for a second, summer break hits different when you’re a mom.
It’s like the minute that final school bell rings, we’re tossed into a full-on sprint we didn’t sign up for.
The sunscreen.
The snacks.
The screen time guilt.
The camps.
The chaos.
It’s like December-level energy… but without the glitter and matching pajamas.
If you’re a mom here in Peachtree City, GA, or one of our nearby communities like Fayetteville, Tyrone, Senoia, or Newnan, and you’re already thinking, “I feel like I’m barely keeping up and it’s only week one,” you are so not alone.
Hi, I’m Katie. I’m a therapist here at The Pursuit Counseling in Fayetteville, and I’m also a mom of six. Yep, six.
So, when I talk about summer survival? I’m not coming to you from a Pinterest board.
I’m coming to you from the front lines with laundry half-folded, a half-drank cup of coffee still on the counter from yesterday, popsicle sticks on my patio, and at least one child asking for a snack right at this very second.
This isn’t a blog to tell you how to make summer perfect.
It’s here to give you real tools, mental health support, and a few mindset shifts that can help you not just survive summer, but stay grounded in the middle of it.
If you’re needing a little more support right now, I offer a free 15-minute consultation, just a chance to talk and see what you need.
First Things First: Summer Is A Lot
Let’s name it: Summer demands more from moms.
Whether you’re working, staying home, or doing some mix of both, this season adds pressure.
You’re suddenly the cruise director, snack manager, screen time referee, and the emotional anchor of the house, all at once.
If you’re also dealing with relationship stress, anxiety, postpartum exhaustion, or just general mom overload, plus those harder-to-talk-about things like body image issues or disordered eating that flare up when everything feels out of control?
Summer can go from fun to full-blown overwhelming in a hot minute.
That’s why I want to start here: You don’t have to have it all together.
How To Actually Stay Sane This Summer In Peachtree City
Here’s what I share with other Peachtree City mom clients and what I try to remind myself on the really hard days:
1. Lower The Bar Without Lowering The Love
Your kids don’t need themed snacks and daily adventures. They need a version of you that’s emotionally present, even if dinner is cereal and the living room looks like a toy tornado hit.
Let good enough be your summer mantra. Seriously.
2. Schedule A Daily Reset Just For You
This doesn’t have to be complicated. It could be a quiet coffee on your porch, a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood, or a guilt-free scroll session in your parked car.
Make it non-negotiable.
Protect it like you would a swim lesson.
You’re not being selfish. You’re refueling.
3. Say The Mental Load Out Loud
Fayetteville moms, you know this: summer doesn’t just happen. There are a million moving parts.
Stop trying to juggle them silently.
Say them out loud.
Write them down.
Delegate where you can.
Just naming the load lightens it.
Therapy Isn’t Just For The Off-Season
Let’s ditch the idea that therapy only happens when school’s in session or when life slows down.
Because for most moms? That slow season never comes.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, burnout, mom rage (yep, that’s real), or just need space to be you for a moment, summer is a perfectly valid time to start therapy.
If you’ve never done therapy before, or it’s been a while, I get that it can feel intimidating. That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consultation, just a no-pressure conversation, mom to mom. We can chat about what you’re carrying, what kind of support you’re looking for, and whether we might be a good fit.
I work with moms right here in Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, Senoia, Newnan, and across the South Atlanta area, both in-person and virtually.

You’re Allowed To Be A Priority Too
Your calendar might be filled with summer camps, vacation plans, and Target runs, but you still deserve to take up space in your own life.
We’ve had moms squeeze in therapy sessions from the school pickup line or while waiting for summer camp drop-off to wrap up, because that’s what this season looks like, and that’s okay.
You don’t have to hit pause on your mental health just because life is full. Sometimes, you just need someone to meet you where you are, literally.
Give yourself the permission to:
- Care for your mental health
- Take breaks
- Ask for help
- Say this is too much without shame
And you’re allowed to do all of that with support from someone who gets it, not just clinically, but personally.
You’re Not Failing, You’re Feeling
If this season feels like a never-ending marathon, that doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means you’re doing your best in an overstimulating, non-stop, joy-and-chaos-filled summer sprint.
You’re human.
If you want someone to walk through this season with you, someone who sees you as more than just a mom, I’d be honored to meet you.
Let’s talk. Your free 15-minute consult is just a click away.
